We started the morning in Edinburgh with coffee and pastries before walking toward the castle as light rain drifted over the old stone streets. By midday we took a train north, watching rolling green hills, scattered sheep, and misty lochs pass by the window. We ended the day with a long walk along the waterfront, talking through what we wanted to explore next across the Highlands.
